Laptop running slow or out of hard disk space?

You have a few options;

Check for virus infections
Delete some information to free up hard drive space – use the disk clean up utility in windows but make sure you don’t delete your data, internet ID cookies, history and favourites in the process!
Archive old data to an external hard drive
Uninstall any programs you no longer need or use
Run disk de-fragmentation to free up all the little bits of space that may be lef

If this doesn’t work then you need to choose between replace or upgrade

Replacement laptop – it’s not quite as simple as just buying a new one;

Programs installed since new will need to be reinstalled on your new laptop, do you have all the disks?

Your email settings will need to be configured along with your network or broadband settings
User data will need to be transferred from old to new
If you were running Windows XP and like it’s reliability you will find it very hard to buy a new laptop with XP installed. Most manufacturers only install Vista or Windows 7.
Throwing away your old working laptop just seems wrong in the current climate

Upgrade laptop – this could be the easiest solution;

You choose how big your hard drive is; usually 160GB or more
Your entire software system will be transferred on to your new larger hard drive
Everything will look the same as before you’ll just have lots of disk space once more
No data loss, no re-installing programs or settings
Memory can also be upgraded, we recommend a minimum of 1G

What are the typical costs of an upgrade?

A 160GB hard drive supplied fitted with data transferred and a memory upgrade to 1GB usually works out to around £100. Upgrading a laptop’s cpu speed or graphics chip is not normally possible or viable so we focus on cost effective and practical ways to get your laptop running faster.

Our turn around time is usually less than 5 days, we’ll confirm the upgrade costs after 2-3 days in most cases. If you need a faster service just let us know, we offer sameday, 24 hour and 48 hour priority turn around times for a small surcharge.
